Scottish Borders Youth Advisory Forum kick off with a great first meeting

Tuesday 26 November was a very exciting night - the first ever meeting for the new Scottish Borders Youth Advisory Forum.

This was a chance for the members to introduce themselves to each other and meet the SOSE staff and learn what being part of the Forum will include.

We are delighted to introduce Sacha, Callum and Beth who make up the first Youth Advisory Forum for the Scottish Borders.

It was great to have Darrie and Hannah from our Dumfries & Galloway Forum to join us and help settle in our newest recruits to Forum life.

What took place?

During this induction session the members were joined by SOSE staff including:

  • Melissa Gunn, Youth and Employability Manger
  • Garry Legg Head of Strategy, Planning and Partnerships
  • Jane Morrison Ross, Chief Executive
  • Emma Guy, Board Member.

The induction session was held via MS Teams with the group to meet face to face in 2025, but that did not stop the buzz in the 'virtual' room.

The induction session covered SOSE’s journey so far, what SOSE does, and what to expect from being a member of the Forum.

Jane and Emma both introduced themselves and talked about their role at SOSE and how they will work and engage with our Youth Advisory Forum.

We are all very excited to have our Scottish Borders Youth Advisory Forum formed and look forward to consulting them on some very important topics very soon.
