Final call for young Borderers to help shape their region’s future
Young Borderers are being encouraged to apply to join the South of Scotland Youth Advisory Forum ahead of its application deadline.
We are currently seeking young people aged 16 to 25 living in the Borders to join the Forum and have a direct impact in their communities and influence decision-makers at a national level.
The deadline for applications is 12noon on Monday 29 September, with more details and application form available here.
What will I gain from joining the Forum?
To date, Forum members have played a valuable role in shaping our as well as regional and national projects through consultation and project development sessions.
Forum members will be provided with training to build their confidence and members have gained practical skills in governance, finance, and leadership.
Many of the group have earned their qualifications along the way, which SOSE delivers in partnership with YouthLink Scotland.
Garry Legg, our Head of Strategy, Planning and Partnerships, said:
“We would love to have more young people from the Borders join us on the South of Scotland Youth Advisory Forum.
“You don’t need any experience to join us — just your voice and your passion, and in return we will support you to expand your knowledge and skills.
“We have another packed year planned for the Forum, and we can’t wait to welcome some new members to join our excellent team.”
Jameson Shirreffs, Forum Member said:
“The Forum has helped me so much with confidence, and my communication and problem-solving skills.
“You gain so much from it and for it to be something that requires so little of your time, it has been so incredibly worth it.”
